Our Why
The McCluskey Center for Violence Prevention (MCVP) at the University of Utah aims to prevent relationship and sexual violence in higher education by bridging the gap between research and education focusing on primary prevention. We intentionally focus on primary prevention or stopping harm before it happens in the first place by teaching people how to avoid causing harm, rather than how to avoid experiencing harm. We do this by conducting research that informs practice, including educational programming, and using insights from educational efforts to shape our research initiatives.
